7 tips for seasonal living with kids

As parents, we have a wonderful opportunity to experience the year with our children season by season. Seasonal living is all about slowing down, connecting with nature and embracing simple joys. Here are seven tips to help you create meaningful moments as a family.

1. Connect with nature

Get out of the house and into nature. Visit a local park, camp in the woods or simply wander round the garden. Let your children discover new flowers, creatures and plants each season.

2. Create memories

Whether it’s baking, carving pumpkins or decorating the house for a festival, take time to enjoy togetherness you’ll look back on fondly.

3. Grow something

Gardening is an excellent way for children to learn about nature. Plant vegetables or flowers together – even a window box counts – and enjoy the harvest when it comes.

4. Eat local and seasonal

Locally grown food is good for the environment and a lovely way to learn what’s in season while supporting local farmers.

5. Take time to unwind

Get cosy. Make hot chocolate, tell stories by the fire or take an evening walk to look at the stars.

6. Spend time with animals

Whether it’s a pet or a visit to a farm, animals bring joy and teach children about the world around them.

7. Get creative

There are endless ways to explore the seasons through art and craft. Make seasonal decorations together, start a nature table or paint the colours you see outside.

Enjoy the season, slow down and make lasting memories. Happy seasonal living!
