St. Patrick’s Day – 17th March

Days we enjoy celebrating – St. Patrick’s Day.

There’s an Irish Proverb that says “There is no fireside like your own fireside”. This is so very true. As much as our family loves going out and about it’s also lovely to come home to the warmth of our own hearth and fireside.

In Steiner Waldorf Schools children will be learning about St. Patrick who is the patron Saint of Ireland.
They will be hearing that St. Patrick’s day is a very important day for lots of people all around the world since it celebrates the arrival of Christianity in Ireland and is a celebration of Irish culture and traditions.

In order to enter this theme children will be immersing themselves in green paint where they will be painting, collaging and colouring. This is because green is a very important colour for celebrating St Patrick’s day.

Learning in this way helps our children to understand about different cultures and the ways in which other people celebrate. It also helps them to make links between their own beliefs, traditions and celebrations and those of other people. It’s important to embrace, celebrate and value the beliefs and traditions of other people, both in our community and the wider world.
